XIII International Exhibition & Congress "High technologies. Innovations. Investments" (11-14 March 2008, St.-Petersburg)

Following the Plan of actions on development of cooperation of the Republic of Belarus with Russian Federation for 2008 the State Committee for Science and Technologies together with Belarusian Institute of System Analysis and Information Support of Scientific and Technical Sphere has acted as a collective organizer of Belarusian S&T exposition at the XIII International Exhibition & Congress "High technologies. Innovations. Investments" which was held on 11-14 March 2008 in St.-Petersburg.

For the first time Exhibition & Congress "High technologies. Innovations. Investments" passed within the framework of Petersburg Technical Fair being one of the largest annual specialized fairs of industrial issues in Northwest region of Russia. This year within it the national displays of India, Ukraine, Latvia, Germany, Great Britain, Denmark, China, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Croatia, Finland, Czech Republic, etc. were presented.

The basic thematic areas of the Exhibition & Congress:

• industrial innovations for mechanical engineering, metallurgy, foundry manufacture, motor industry, transport;
• nanotechnologies and nanomaterials. 

Within the framework of the business program of the Exhibition & Congress a competition "The best innovation project in the field of metallurgy and mechanical engineering” was carried out with granting diplomas and medals of Petersburg Technical Fair.

In the Belarusian collective section 86 developments were submitted by the research organizations of the Ministry of Education and National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. 

During the Exhibition the members of the national delegation were involved in the following activities:

• working on the stand;
• meetings and negotiations with the potential partners;
• search for potential consumers of S&T production;
• search for partners for realization of marketing research and transfer of S&T production to the markets of Russia’s regions;
• participation in the competition of innovative developments.

During the Exhibition on the stand of the Ministry of Education over 50 meetings and negotiations have been carried out and 3 protocols on intentions on cooperation signed. Its representatives  submitted to the competition 20 developments (8 – by Technological Park “Metolit”, 12 – by universities) of which 8 received gold medals and 10 — silver.

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has presented at the Exhibition & Congress developments of the Institute of Physics, United Institute of Solid State Physics and Semiconductors and Institute of Technology of Metals. By the results of negotiations the members of NAS delegation signed two contracts on delivery of production.

In the category "The best innovation in the field of new materials and chemical products" the United Institute of Solid State Physics and Semiconductors is awarded with a gold medal for the development "Ceramic materials for microwave filters and aerials" and silver medal for the development "New generating environment ZnSe:Cr for lasers of mid-infrared range”. In the category "The best innovation in the field of advanced technologies of mechanical engineering and metallurgy” the Institute of Physics of the NAS is awarded with a gold medal for the development "Optical electronic system for safe driving supersize trucks in conditions of the limited transparency of an atmosphere" and silver medal for the development "Optical prophilometers for control of a surface of cylindrical products in mechanical engineering". The Institute of Technology of Metals has received a silver medal for the development "Continuous horizontal moulding".

By the results of participation in the Exhibition & Congress the State Committee for Science and Technologies, Ministry of Education and National Academy of Sciences of Belarus are awarded by the diplomas for their contribution to the development of a scientific-industrial complex of Russia and active participation in the XIII International Exhibition & Congress "High Technologies. Innovations. Investments".
