National exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in the Azerbaijan Republic (May 2-5, 2007, Baku)

On May 2-5, 2007 Belarusian science was represented at the National exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in the Azerbaijan Republic dated for the official visit of the President of Belarus A.Lukashenko to this country.

Over 180 exhibits of 15 organizations of the Ministry of Education, 4 institutes of the National Academy of Sciences and 7 organizations of the Ministry of Public Health Services were presented on the collective exposition of the SCS&T. It have been visited by the President of Belarus А.Lukashenko, President of the Azerbaijan Republic I.Aliyev, Prime-Minister of Azerbaijan А. Rasi-zade, members of the Government of Azerbaijan, representatives of foreign diplomatic and trade missions, representatives of Belarusian and Azerbaijan mass-medias.

On 3 May in the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan the seminar “Actual issues of research cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan” organized by the SCS&T and NAS of Azerbaijan was held. President of Azerbaijan NAS М.Kerimov, Chairman of the Presidium of Belarus NAS М.Myasnikovich, representatives of the Ministry of Education of Belarus, Belarusian State University and academies of sciences of both countries took part in it. Participants have discussed the state and prospects of R&D cooperation activating, both in the field of joint research and in commercialization of its results.

By results of activities carried out during the exhibition over 80 agreements and protocols on intentions between organizations of the two countries have been signed. In particular, Chairman of the Presidium of Belarusian NAS М.Мyasnikovich and President of Azerbaijan NAS М.Kеrimov has signed the Program of scientific cooperation between the academies for 2007-2010. The program includes 31 projects in the area of computer sciences, laser physics, electronics and heliotechnologies, material sciences, chemistry of polymers, power and environment protection. 13 institutes of Belarusian NAS and 7 institutes of Azerbaijan NAS are involved in them.
