Minsk to host Tibo 2009 International IT-Forum April 21-24

Products of more than 200 companies will be presented at the 16th international forum Tibo 2009 which will be held in Minsk on April 21-24, BelTA learnt from the organizing committee of the exhibition.
The international specialized exhibition of telecommunications, information and banking technologies and the international congress are the main events of Tibo IT-Forum. The forum includes Torginfo specialized exhibition (trade and services), COMBIT exhibition (publishing and advertising), Digital House (household appliances), ElCom (telecommunication, software equipment and electronic devices).
The main goals of the forum are to discuss the problems and prospects of the efficient use of information technologies in all the areas of the life, demonstrate the up-to-date technologies and solutions, assist in development of the national information industry and the market of telecommunication and information services.
Within the framework of the forum, organizers will hold a number of events to distribute sci-tech information and popularize the achievements in information and communication areas: specialized workshops-presentations, press conferences, contest of information resources and services “The 6th Internet-Prize Tibo”, a graphic design contest, a computer sport tournament.
On April 22-24, the 6th Belarusian Congress on Technologies and Information Society will be held. The congress will discuss the world tendencies of the information society development, analyze the state of the use of information technologies in different areas, develop the recommendations to improve the state information policy.
During the forum, the organizing committee will hold the Internet-Prize Tibo Contest. Since 2003, more than 3,600 Belarusian internet resources have taken part in the contest. This year, the contest includes 12 nominations: “Organs of State Administration”, “Education and Science”, “Corporative Web-Site”, “Mass Media in Internet”, “Trade, Catalogues, Libraries, Network Services”, “Culture and Arts”, “Sport, Tourism and Entertainment”, “Health and Medicine”, “For Children and Youth”, “Foreign-Language Resource about Belarus”, “Information Portal” and “Video Resources in Internet”. Contests of graphical design and computer sport will be held within the framework of Tibo 2009 as well.
Tibo international forum has been held under the auspices of the Belarusian Communication and Information Ministry since 1994. It is organized by the Communication and Information Ministry, the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, the Belarus State Committee for Science and Technology, the State Centre for Information Security, the National Bank of Belarus, the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Information Society Association, the Association of Belarusian Banks, the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian National Technology University, the Belarusian State University of Computer Science and Radioelectronics, the Technology and Communications Company. The forum has become the annual national display of the world and national achievements in telecommunications, software, banking technologies, office appliances and consumer electronics.
