Russian, Belarusian specialists to discuss new technological advance forecasting methods

An international seminar on research and technology forecasting will take place in Minsk on March 27, BelTA learnt from representatives of the National Centre for Technology Transfer of Belarus (NCTT).
NCTT specialists said, the National Academy of Sciences and the State Committee for Science and Technology of Belarus are starting the third phase of preparation of a comprehensive forecast of Belarus’ scientific and technological advance in 2011-2030. New methodological approaches of predictive modelling will be used during its preparation. The number includes technological foresight, which is a method of long-term forecasting of scientific and technological advance based on polling experts.
Opportunities and prospects of using new forecasting methods will be discussed at a seminar by leading Russian and Belarusian specialists, who have theoretical knowledge and practical experience of fulfilling similar complex national forecasts. UNIDO experts will also take part in the seminar. The Belarusian side will be represented by the State Committee for Science and Technology, the Economics Institute and the Language and Literature Institute of the National Academy of Sciences, the Minsk Social and Economic Problems Research Institute.
Reports “Technological forecasting as an instrument of integration into the global community”, “International research practices in technological forecasting”, “Prospects of using technological forecasting approaches in Belarus’ prospective development planning” and other reports will be presented during the seminar.
The seminar is organised by the National Centre for Technology Transfer and the Economics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences with assistance of UNIDO, the UNDP in Belarus, the State Committee for Science and Technology, the National Academy of Sciences, and the National Library of Belarus.
