The International Conference "Chernobyl 20 Years Later. Strategies of Steady Development of Suffered Regions" was held in Minsk
On 19-21 April the International Conference "Chernobyl 20 Years Later. Strategies of Steady Development of Suffered Regions" was held in Minsk. During the conference experience of overcoming of Chernobyl disaster consequences was generalized, recommendations determining strategy of actions for the next decade were produced and the results of scientific research and concrete recommendations for effective management of after-Chernobyl situation were discussed.
The exchange of positive experience on realization of society oriented policy and development of cooperation with international organizations, governments, non-governmental organizations on realization of new strategy of the decision of Chernobyl problems — complex rehabilitation of life conditions in the polluted territories was held. Within the framework of the conference new international programmes and projects were presented, an attempt was made to attract new partners and donor funds to international Chernobyl cooperation.
Especially by this memorial date and with a purpose of assistance to distribution of the impartial information about situation after Chernobyl accident in Belarus a National report "20 Years after Chernobyl Accident. Consequences in the Republic of Belarus and Their Overcoming" was issued and presented at the conference. Results of scientific research implemented by the order of the Committee on Chernobyl Problems, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, other ministries (for public health, agriculture and foodstuffs, wood industry, education) and bodies of state management participating in measures on overcoming of Chernobyl accident consequences were used in the process of its preparation.
