S&T Programme of Union State of Belarus and Russia “BelRusTransgen”

A set of experiments in the framework of S&T Programme of Union State of Belarus and Russia “BelRusTransgen” was carried out in September. The main executer of this Programme in Belarus is R&D Institute of Cattle Breeding at Belarus National Academy of Sciences. The heart of experiment is a surgery on implantation of human genes to 100 goats. They took an embryo from a donor goat and transported human gene inside it. Gene construction from human protein was given by Russian scientists.

If the programme succeeds, goat milk will become a new remedy for heart and vascular diseases treatment and the best product for artificial feeding of babies. They plan belarusian transgen goats will give up to 800 l of milk/year.
