Belarus presents state innovation development program at Geneva conference
Belarus has presented the state program of innovation development at the international conference on innovation and competitiveness policies in Geneva.
As BelTA learnt from first deputy chairman of the state committee for science and technology Vladimir Nedilko who represented Belarus at the conference, specialists from 54 European countries took part in the meeting. Their main goal was to analyze the innovation activities of European countries and work out proposals on introduction of innovations which would raise competitiveness of the countries they represented. “Innovation activity is the main tool to raise competitive ability of any national economy. Like for any other state, for Belarus this aspect is of great importance,” the interlocutor said.
Vladimir Nedilko noted that representatives of European countries presented their innovations as well as methods of their application. “Exchange of experience among various countries will give each of them an opportunity to adopt modern innovation technologies,” he said.
Specialists have developed a plan of action and outlined conditions of work and cooperation. In the near future a special portal will be launched where participating counties will post information about innovations. Next year the second meeting will be held to take stock of the progress made this year and to set out plans for the future.
The conference was organized by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), one of the five regional economic commissions of the United Nations. UNECE strives to foster sustainable economic growth among its 56 member countries. To that end UNECE provides a forum for communication among states; brokers international legal instruments addressing trade, transport and the environment; and supplies statistics and economic and environmental analysis.
