Belarus participation in the Fair was aimed at facilitating the mutually advantageous cooperation with Myanmar, promoting implementation of joint projects in various fields and demonstrating the industrial, scientific, technological and cultural potential of Belarus. 56 Belarusian companies and organizations of the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, National Academy of Sciences and “Belneftekhim” and "Belgospischeprom" concerns have formed the national exposition with the total indoor exhibition area of 174 and outdoor – 50 sq.m. The Fair's opening ceremony was attended by officials of the Yangon province of Myanmar, including Mr. Yu Myint Swe, the Prime Minister of the province; Mr. Yu Tang Myint, Minister of Commerce; Mr. Yu. Aung Khin, Minister of Transport; Colonel Tin Win, Minister for Border Affairs; Mr. Kyaw Soiû, Minister of Environment and Forestry, as well as Mr. Valery Sadokho, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in Viet Nam. The State Committee on Science and Technologies in cooperation with BelISA organized a collective section of S&T developments within the national exposition. On an area of 40 sq m over 100 developments were demonstrated by 8 universities and 4 organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The Belarusian delegation servicing the collective section consisted of 9 persons. Within the exhibition life time, the members of the Belarusian scientific delegation held over 50 meetings and negotiations of which the most important were the following:
As a result, several areas have been identified for cooperation in research, industry, and also in education and post-graduate training. The significant interest was expressed towards Belarusian developments in agriculture (technologies and equipment), environment, water treatment, recycling of agricultural and industrial production, DNA biotechnologies, as well as in mining and mineral processing equipment produced by the "Center" Science and Production Amalgamation. The Belarusian scientific delegation activities in Yangon have contributed in improving of Belarus international image and broadening the knowledge of our potential foreign partners about the country. They also paved the way to obtaining information about possibilities of cooperation with Myanmar.
