St. Petersburg to host CIS scientific conference 4 October

The international scientific conference, the Commonwealth of Independent States: Achievements, Problems, Prospects, will take place in St. Petersburg on 4 October, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said.

Partaking in the forum will be representatives of the CIS academies of sciences, scientists and experts. They will focus on economic, legal, scientific and educational, international and political aspects of the CIS.

The conference will open with a plenary session. Partaking in the event will be Secretary General of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Council Mikhail Krotov, pro-rector of the St. Petersburg State University Kontantin Khudolei, head of the Civil Procedure Department of the St. Petersburg State University Valery Musin.

The conference will include four sections dedicated to the problems of legal and economic integration, scientific and educational cooperation.

On 8 December 2011 the Commonwealth of Independent States will mark its 20th anniversary. In 2011 CIS heads of states adopted a number of important documents.

Moreover, CIS countries hosted numerous events dedicated to the anniversary. For instance, Minsk played host to the scientific and practical conference, 20 Years of the CIS, on 28-29 September. The forum focused on a wide range of issues.
