On 3-6 April, 2006 in Jordan (Amman) the International Exhibition «REBUILD IRAQ 2006» devoted to restoration of Iraq was held. Scientific exposition of the Republic of Belarus was presented there.

The total area of the exhibition came to 15 thous. sq. m. 32 countries were presented there. The Prime Minister of Jordan, Minister of Economy Dr. Ziad Freid opened the exhibition.

Belarusian S&T exposition (132 developments) placed on the area of 60 sq m was represented by 12 R&D organizations of Ministry of Education and National Academy of Sciences.

The exhibition covered the following areas:

  • Electric power industry,
  • Construction industry,
  • Food-processing industry,
  • Light industry,
  • Medical technics,
  • Agricultural technics.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus V.Lopato-Zagorsky visited Belarusian exposition. He was informed about developments in different areas of science and engineering, and also on educational and innovative activities in Belarus. The advertising catalogues of developments which might be interesting in the Middle East region were passed.

On 4 April, 2006 a Seminar and presentation of Belarusian R&D was held. In the framework of the seminar eight Belarusian reports were delivered.

Belarusian delegation visited a Royal Scientific Society where it was met by Society’s Vice-president Mr. Khaled Kahhaleh. The parties discussed possibilities of cooperation in the field of optimal energy supply systems for inhabited public buildings and industrial objects. Belarusian delegation also visited laboratories of the Chemical centre of the Royal Scientific Society. Analysis of food safety parameters with giving out the appropriate certificate is carried out in the labs.

The meeting resulted in signing the protocol on intentions between BSU, United Institute of Solid State Physics and Semiconductors and Belarusian State Research-and-Production Concern of Powder Metallurgy of the NAS (from Belarusian party) and the Royal Scientific Society (Amman, Jordan). The core issue of the document signed is the areas of mutual interest:

  • Equipment for manufacture of building polymeric energy saving materials;
  • Chemical products, analysis and technologies;
  • Protection of health, environment and ecology;
  • New functional materials, technologies of getting and devices based on them;
  • Powder metallurgy;
  • Technologies of welding and coating.
