EIFL 2011 General Assembly is set to meet at the National Library of Belarus on 25-28 June 2011, BelTA learnt from the library.

Attending the forum will be more than 90 representatives of EIFL Consortium members and the biggest suppliers of e-resources.

The meeting participants will discuss public access policies; removing barriers for the better use of e-resources; copyright issues within the international policies. Negotiations will be held with the producers and suppliers of e-resources.

EIFL Consortium (Electronic Information for Libraries) is an international non-for-profit organization that partners will libraries and library consortia in more than 45 countries of Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe, former Soviet Union, Africa, Middle East and Southeast Asia. The main areas of activity are global knowledge sharing, development of a continuous education network, support of the national library consortia.

In 2009 the Council of Belarusian Libraries on Information Cooperation under the National Library of Belarus (BelCoLib) became an EIFL member. The council represents the interests of the country’s libraries in what concerns acquisition and use of e-resources, intellectual property, development and distribution of e-resources and open code software.
