NASB, SCK-CEN sign memorandum of understanding

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and the Belgian Nuclear Research Center (SCK-CEN) have signed a memorandum of mutual understanding, BelTA learnt from the NASB press service.
The document aims to develop cooperation in the nuclear research and personnel training. Scientists of the two countries are planning to collaborate in the nuclear physics and nuclear safety, radioactive waste treatment and safe ground disposal. The scientists will study the features of the waste as well as peculiarities of the migration of radionuclides. They are also supposed to exchange experience in choosing places for burial ground disposal of radioactive waste.
“The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belgian Nuclear Research Center will exchange scientific, technical and common information, pay visits to the production facilities of the two countries, hold seminars and on-the-job training. The signed document will help the countries develop cooperation within the research projects financed by the European Commission,” the NASB said.
The United Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research Sosny is the major coordinator of the joint activity from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
