CIS may adopt innovative cooperation program on 18 October

The CIS interstate innovative cooperation program till 2020 may be adopted at the session of the CIS heads of government in St. Petersburg on 18 October, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev told reporters at the international scientific and practical conference 20 Years of the CIS on 28 September.
“We hope that the meeting will result in adopting the CIS interstate innovative cooperation program till 2020 and some other documents, which set forth prospects of economic and humanitarian cooperation,” Sergei Lebedev said.
On 21-22 October Kyiv will play host to the scientific and cultural forum. “We are living, we are developing, we are looking into the future,” Sergei Lebedev said. He added that economy remains the priority of CIS cooperation. “This is a paramount cooperation avenue as it affects the social and economic situation in countries, people’s lives. If our cooperation helps improve the wellbeing of people in the CIS it will be developed,” Sergei Lebedev stressed. According to him, a lot has been done to promote cooperation between CIS countries.
Sergei Lebedev noted that the international conference in Minsk is dedicated to the results of the CIS activities. “These years were not easy, especially the 90s. But everyone agree that there are more positive aspects in the CIS,” Sergei Lebedev said and added that together it is easier to solve problems and overcome difficulties. “We have good prospects, program documents which envisage the evolution of the Commonwealth and closer cooperation of CIS countries,” Sergei Lebedev noted.
In 20 years the CIS has adopted a number of important documents, including the CIS economic development strategy till 2020. Every week specialists, ministers and officials meet to discuss further cooperation.
